Hello, everyone.
I follow my last post in which I introduced to you the "SOLO RPG: the simplest Ruleset of the world!". Today I present you a solo scenario in the series of short adventures at lunch time to put these rules into practice.
A new format
The format of the short adventures has evolved to make it more in tune with the game philosophy. I wanted to make the adventure even easier to play in a "play and thrown away" spirit. The scenario now fits on a single page.
- The scenario now fits on a single page.
- The artworks have been reduced because it is a work that requires a lot of work. I lost a lot of energy and motivation to work on the artwork, whereas the script was supposed to be playable very quickly.
- Pre-generated characters are available.
- The sheet also includes a summary of the rules presented in my last post. I kept the D12 version that received the most positive feedback.
- Oracles from game-icons.net are printed at the bottom of the page
A more complete scenario
I have invested more energy into the scenario, which will be divided into two parts. This first adventure will lead you to assault Lord Dragonsbane's fortress, which holds prisoner the beautiful Princess Xyrata. Each scene describes the setting and it is up to you to decide what you want to add with the oracles at the end of the page. As usual, the ending is "special".
The second part is being finalized and will arrive next week. It will take you to the forest to save the city. But I won't say any more!
My advice to you is this: complete this scenario. It's almost as fast to read as it is to play.
You will gain experience in the practice of RPG solo.
Spoilers - My experience with this scenario
If you have not yet played the adventure, do not read the following. I tell you how I played this short solo adventure, how I interpreted the oracles.
My team
- Erith: Female Elf Wizard black cat named Mithienye
- Hidri Bertison: Dwarf fighter of the royal guard. Loyal Good. +1 in combat situation
- Athyes: Human barbarian. He likes action, not thinking. He has a wolf who will sacrifice himself for him. The wolf hates cats… +1 in combat situation
- Gisli: Human thief. He only comes for the money. Extremely fat, Gisli has no survival bonus.
The Battle of the Tower
I'm already imagining a comic scene. The group is hiding behind a tree and watching the henchmen. While the warrior discusses the strategy, the wolf growls at the cat. The barbarian, as a good psychologist, says: "Bad cat! Cat doesn't like wolf! ”.
The warrior intervenes "OK, here's the strategy..." But it's too late, the barbarian's already heading for the fight
…
The battle is raging but it is clear that adventurers are superior. When suddenly a group of giant centipedes come out of the forest and cross the battlefield! The barbarian, struggling with two guards, is about to be caught by a monster's mandible!
D12 = 10
At the last moment, the barbarian threw himself into the entrance of the tower to take shelter.
Inside the Tower
My team has absolutely nothing to do with tapestries. The chest, on the other hand, interests them more.
The warrior says, "It's a trap, we're not here for that." The magician goes along with it: "He's right"
But the thief laughed, "How stupid you are! I only came to loot this tower..... The remaining part is optional!"
The barbarian says "Smart thief. Me want gold!"
As the thief approached the chest, three poisoned spears sprang from the ground!
D12 = 9
But the thief suspected the trap. He's taking the chest back!
The Jails
Men with snake heads are locked up in jails on the first floor. The magician begins to wonder "But what is this place? The prisoners look aggressive and there is no treasure to motivate the party to release these prisoners.
The Black Knight
Lord Dragonsbane is here in combat armor. He awaits the adventurers with his two swords in hand, in a hurry to fight it out. The adventurers are ready to fight, but the dwarf warrior says (loyal good). "Forget it, this fight is for me. Dragonsbane the Black Knight, you were banished from the Kingdom! By kidnapping the princess, you committed an unforgivable crime. You will have to answer for your actions to the King! I challenge you to a duel!"
... The fight begins... The dwarf is strong, but the black knight has a better technique. Avoiding a sword strike, he pushed the dwarf back to the ground. But the dwarf's honor pushes him to get up and he puts all his strength into this move....
D12+1=4 !
... but the black knight dodges with a twist. And his sword continues to rotate and behead the dwarf!
The other three look at each other in shock.
The thief: "He is strong..."
The barbarian: "He is even smaller..."
The magician: "Stop it both of you! We will not leave without trying everything to save the princess!"
The barbarian, his wolf and the thief are heading for the black knight! But the barbarian quickly found himself on the ground and wolf ejected at the other end of the room. The thief is alone in front of Dragonsbane..... When a fireball passes through the room!
D12+2=8
And smash the black knight! And also the thief (wounded)
The secret weapon
The black knight has difficulty getting up. He seems rabid! He says a few words and one of his swords turns into an electric whip! With a sharp gesture, her whip surrounds the magician's throat!
The barbarian rushed to his aid.
D*12=5
Finally, the barbarian hits the black knight on the back, who is ko.
The magician is wounded
The princess is delivered
END.
The fate of the black knight?
The thief wants to execute him without warning.
The barbarian doesn't care
The magician does not understand that it is possible to kill a man on the ground.
I'll say 50/50
D12=3: he dies.
Rewriting
I sometimes rewrite scenes. As I said before, I'm trying to write a story. Since I'm alone, I can do whatever I want. Rewriting is part of my rules!
And respect for the dice too. So the black knight dies, but not from a summary execution. And then, it seems to me that the scene could have been more epic.
Following the fireball, the black knight stands up with the eye of the tiger! He yells "Thunder Blade!" and his two blades lose their steel shine to turn into an electric whip. He attacks the magician by grabbing her around the neck. She collapses, twisting in pain. The barbarian rushes to the black knight.
The black knight had foreseen this movement and attacks the barbarian with his whip. But at the last moment, the wolf threw himself on the wire and deflected the attack. The surprise will be enormous for the black knight! The wolf! He didn't plan for the wolf. Nothing stops the barbarian's rush to impale the knight, piercing his armor, his body and part of the wall. The fight ends here, the black knight impaled against the wall.
What happens next?
The rest can be played as an interlude. It can also be played later in the form of flashback.
In my version, I use it to simulate an attraction between the princess and the magician. Both go into the forest to perform the ritual, but the magician gets scared and runs away, without her cat.
I hope you enjoyed it. Feel free to leave me your comments. They are a great help to me and allow me to improve my solo rpg practice
