Frieza's Mercenaries: a new one-page RPG

Become a space pirate in my new one page rpg !

Hello everyone!

Today I present you a super light role-playing game in the world of Dragon Ball Z. Frieza's Mercenaries takes the challenge to combine piracy spirit with DBZ. Discover this new one-page rpg.

The basic idea: a one-page rpg in the world of Dragon Ball Z

I grew up with the DBZ franchise. I was happy to see that the adventures of Goku continued after the end of the Buu chapter, but I'm a little disappointed by the latest developments of the story. (almost the whole DBS and DBGT story).

So I wanted to take the challenge to give Dragon Ball Z back its letters of nobility and to propose something fun but less "color-hair change".

The setting of Frieza Mercenaries

The story begins after the death of Frieza and King Cold. Deprived of its masters, the Universe is in the grip of anarchy. Wars of succession begin, rebellions break out, empires fall apart. I imagine this period as the golden age of space piracy.

The characters embody space pirates in the DBZ sauce: aliens with insane power who set out to conquer planets.

Instead of Spain, France, England, Netherlands, we imagine powerful factions (General Sorbet, Heaters ...).
Instead of Tortuga Island, we imagine a beautiful brothel on the central planet of Frieza.
Mythical treasures? The universe is full of them.

The rules of Frieza's Mercenaries

What I like about one-page rpg is the obligation to keep it simple. In Frieza's Mercenaries, I wanted to innovate while keeping the spirit of DBZ. The characters have unique characteristics and tags.

The KI: it's the only characteristic that is encrypted. Multiply it by 1000 to get the power DBZ transcription.

d(KI) + KI. The highest score wins

That's it.

If you have KI=6, you roll 1d6+6. If you have KI=7, you roll 1d7+7. To simulate d7, you can roll a d8 and raise to 8. It's more complicated if you have KI=13, but I'm sure you'll find some tricks!

For other actions, a tags system fit with a classic three-scale system (pass, partial pass, fail).

And if you want more...

  1. This looks pretty cool! But the link to the patreon doesn't seem to go anywhere. Is there somewhere else that the second page is located?
